Vanderbilt University Theatre: Gnit

Meet Peter Gnit, a recklessly aspiring, self-deluded anti-heroThis twisted adaption of Henrik Ibsen’s 1876 play Peer Gynt sets up expectations, then hilariously dashes them, challenging what we think we know about this classic character.

Peter’s problem-causing skills may well be his most pronounced ability. Today he’ll disappoint his ailing mother by arriving late at her bedside. He’ll disrupt the wedding of his ex-girlfriend, absconding with the bride as an angry mob chases him out into the mountains. So begins a lifetime of bad decisions, for Peter believes he’s on a mission to discover his “authentic self.” Written by Will Eno and directed by Jessika Malone, Guest Faculty Director.

Free for Vanderbilt undergraduate students. $7 for Vanderbilt graduate students and seniors. Otherwise, $10. Tickets can be purchased at the Sarratt Box Office.
